Mykola Tomenko, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine giving comments regarding the yesterday judgment of the Constitutional Court that permitted restriction of the immunity of the People´s Deputies of Ukraine and predicting further actions of the Parliament declared: "I Am convinced that it is necessary to complete the process of the Deputies immunity restriction and vote for the resolution in the Parliament."
M. Tomenko emphasised that one can not be high-principled when you are representing the authority and have no high-principles when you are representing the opposition, or vice versa. "One are supposed to be logical, occupying serious offices either in coalition or opposition", the politician is convinced.
The Deputy Chairman indicated that ion fact, restriction of the Deputies immunity is not a demand of coalition or opposition, it i a demand of the society. "We are obliged to complete the procedure of the amendments introduction to the Constitution as today the Deputies immunity is a protection mechanism for the business activity of Deputies and have nothing in common with the so-called parliamentary immunity, existing in the whole world", he emphasised.
